To start with, I am Catherine Nicole Burlas, and I’m a seasoned writer with a keen eye for developing purposeful content and creating a better society through my knowledge and work. I may be just five-foot-tall, but my ambition, drive, and purpose go higher.
To help accomplish my goals and learn how to contribute effectively, I have been pursuing several academic ventures. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree and have completed 29 units of my Juris Doctor degree, including Persons and Family Law, Criminal Law 1, and Obligations and Contracts, before pausing to finish my Master's in Management in Public Administration, which I have finished this year, with a Comprehensive Exam Weighted Average of 93 or GPA 3.7. My next academic goal is to return to law school next year, complete my Juris Doctor degree, and finally become a lawyer (and then pursue more academic ventures).
In addition to my strong academic background, I have experience in legal research, newswriting, radio DJing, and social media marketing, where I have acquired skills in making relevant and purposeful online content, researching information that would help me in drafting legislation, writing inspiring and informative stories for the benefit of the people, and communicating with the masses. Additionally, I do public speaking, basic graphic design, and basic video editing.
As an aspiring lawyer, I firmly believe in a person’s right to be heard and represented. A denial of the due process of law is a denial of justice itself. I also firmly believe that we are accountable and responsible for each other, and the law exists to ensure that.
During my free time, I enjoy playing video games and trading card games, reading books on criminal justice and horror, watching Star Wars and anime, and taking walks. My interests also include keeping up with current events and social media trends, studying and following social commentaries, and learning about marine conservation.
