What makes me passionate about working as an HR Assistant and Customer Service Representative is my love for being with people. I highly believe that I have so much to learn from the people I meet, the same way I have so much to impart to them. Being a Customer Service Representative for two years, I met people of diverse backgrounds, each of them carrying their unique story. Apart from being honed to handle various customer concerns, an important skill I gained, which I would not trade for anything else, is my empathy. Since I was immersed in the differing natures of their concerns, I learned to see things from other people's lens, thereby training myself to think and feel the same way they did. The good thing is that it has not obstructed me from fulfilling my role as CSR; in fact, it helped more as it kept me grounded, encouraging me to strive to help resolve their concerns as much as I could. I carried this same attitude as I started to navigate the Human Resources (HR) field. As an HR intern for one of the most prestigious hospitals in the Philippines, I was supervised by gentle and competent HR practitioners who are already experts in the field. I was exposed to different HR facets, but I was primarily involved in recruitment functions, where I screened resumes, replied to job inquiries, and assisted in interviewing hospital staff (e.g., nurses, nursing aides, etc.). Furthermore, I also actively participated in the new employees' onboarding session, where I prepared the necessary documents, contacted the concerned department heads assigned to conduct the orientation sessions, and accompanied the employees in completing their requirements. Such an experience was an affirmation that I was really made to be with people, helping them in any way I can. Not to mention, it has opened my eyes to the endless opportunities in the HR field, which can both potentially contribute to my growth as a professional and an individual. Overall, my combined working experiences as a CSR and HR intern equip me with the necessary skills of a team player who has great things to bring to the table.
