As a licensed professional teacher, I work a lot in
communicating with people through active listening and asking thoughtful
questions to better understand the needs and concerns of those that I work
with. Immediately after graduating, I applied and worked for an ESL platform in
China where I taught my students basic English materials to help them
communicate using English. Right after leaving the company and coming home from
a service mission, I started working as a part-time VA for my sister, a
freelancer who works for several clients. Most of the work I did and learned
from her was data entry, updating store data like SKUs, importing and
exporting, and updating Google sheets. I also learned basic transactional data
entry and I am adept at using Microsoft Excel through that experience. After
that, I got the opportunity to work as a data analyst for an Amazon business
merchant, where my tasks were to research and organize necessary data for the
store's products and then organize them on a sheet to be reviewed by the
manager. I was able to at least grab the necessary knowledge about product
research using tools.
Right after that, I took the opportunity to work as an
office clerk in the school principal's office here in my hometown. I did a lot
of administrative work for my principal and helped her with her daily tasks,
especially when there were requests and incoming and outgoing communications.
While I was working at school, I applied for a lot of jobs
online and was able to land a job with a realtor. My tasks were mainly cold
calling. I had no experience with telemarketing or cold calling at that time,
but I was trained by my kind client about this
difficult at first, but with the help and patience of my client, I grasped his
teachings through lots of training and good communication.
While in training for the preparation of calls, I was given
tasks to research owners' information, especially their numbers, and then we
organized them on a Google sheet to easily call the people. I cold-called
people and tried my best to incorporate the lessons from my client. While
waiting for some sort of update regarding my job, I started doing part-time
work for my sister again while she cares for her baby. The tasks were on
property listings, and it was mostly data entry using different systems that
brokers use.
I honestly love this kind of remote work, not only because
it pays a lot more than when working locally with the traditional 8 AM to 5 PM
time, but I feel like it gives me more time to learn the job while spending
time with family and more time to improve on other aspects.
I am the type of person that would ask many questions rather
than assume and make mistakes. Right now, I still feel like there's still a lot
for me to learn and master. But through your help and with the experience and
knowledge I obtained from my previous work experience, I know it'll be worth
it.
I am positive that no matter how hard and stressful things
may seem at first, after a lot of trying, they will become a lovely and sweet
journey.
