Maybe you are thinking about having your first Website made or maybe you just need a new better one in any case then you should know at least some of the basics about Web Development and Designing.
A Website is core of your online marketing activities. If you look at all the marketing channels and techniques what they actually do is bring visitors to your website and the main purpose of this website is turning these visitors to customers and in Marketing terms this is termed as CONVERSION. A bad website will basically cause you to waste money on other marketing methods because you need more visitor as they are not turning to Customers so the better your website is the more visitors are converted into Customers.
Here are the phases of a good website.
Phase 1: Analysis
The first step is always about information gathering, identifying the things like website purpose, Goals and Target Audience
Phase 2: Planning
A plan includes the definition of the Sitemap, Website structure and the Technologies that is to be used.
Phase 3: Design
This phase includes Wireframe Models, Visual Style and usability of the user interface for the best possible user experience.
Phase 4: Content
A very important part of the process is choosing the right text, photos or videos all optimized not only for Visitors but also for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Phase 5: Development
In this Website creation takes place using coding languages and technologies. Website will be made accessible to mobile devices too.
Phase 6: Testing
In this phase all the technical features would be tested like Code and Scripts, Compatibility with major Browsers etc.
Phase 7: Deployment
This phase includes monitoring of the website after launch, Enabling to fix any possible deficiencies and if needed can also maintain future maintenance and updates too.
Web Design is a very complex process but I believe this is how websites should be done.
Let's get familiar with basics of SEO as well.
Most of people think it's some kind of magic but that's not the case.
Take a look at it from your perspective what did you do when you want to find something on Internet? You search for it and then click on one of the links on the first page of the search
Let's focus on keywords first:
Your chances for better ranking grow when your website contains the same words that are being searched. Keywords are especially effective when they are found in Website Title, Address or Headings.
How about links?
Links basically tells Search Engines that it has some good stuff but links from irrelevant sites won't help to get a better rank.
