I'm a writer-lawyer who gets absolutely absorbed in every writing assignment I get. I prepare pleadings, memos, and opinions according to the pre-discussed desired output, but hew in attempts at giving the written work a creative, unique, or personal touch -- through the choice of words, the flow, or the adopted tenor, among others -- when it would so improve the same. I revel in expressing ideas and describing scenarios accurately and precisely, believing that the reader, in order to understand the message being conveyed, must be placed in the plane of thought intended by the writer, and believing more strongly that this duty of the writer is sacred and ever achievable.
Experience: 10+ years
Mastered the skill. For 20+ years, since high school, I've identified myself as a creative writer, having written news and feature articles, both in English and in Filipino, for our school papers, have taken up subjects in college related to the subject (English 1, Creative Writing 1, Creative Writing 2, and Comparative Literature), and, at work, as a lawyer, have been writing pleadings and decisions, memos and opinions, letters and briefs, in as creative a manner as possible (significantly considering the level of creativity tolerated by my superiors and the clients).
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Mastered the skill. I have been doing legal research for my cases since being admitted into the Bar. My research includes investigating and understanding the facts of the case, and determining the applicable laws and jurisprudence.
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Mastered the skill. I have been writing court pleadings, legal memoranda, legal opinions, and, for a couple of years when I worked in Court, court decisions, since I entered the Bar in 2017.
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Applied the skill extensively. I started writing news articles in high school, and continued through, though less frequently, in college. I've written standard news articles, but my forte and favorite are sports news articles (traditional sports and e-sports alike).
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Applied the skill extensively. From the lawyer-client perspective, since being admitted into the Bar, I've had multiple opportunities to interview clients, determine the facts of the case, identify their issues and interests, dispense the corresponding legal advice, prepare them for trial, and prepare their affidavits. From the lawyer-law firm/law office standpoint, I regularly report case updates to my supervising lawyers, and, also, I consistently take part in discussions on strategy for high-level cases/concerns.
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Applied the skill extensively. I monitor the cases assigned to me for incoming letters, pleadings, or court orders, as well as for the scheduled meetings, trial dates, etc.
Experience: 5 - 10 years
Applied the skill extensively. After law school, prior to passing the Bar, I worked as paralegal for a small law firm and was assigned to prepare, print, and photocopy pleadings, secure signatures of lawyers and witnesses, mail pleadings and letters at the post office, file pleadings before the courts, and file incoming documents in the office. After passing the Bar, I would still perform these tasks from time to time.
