I started my career right after I passed my Nursing Board Exam in a tertiary hospital with a 300-bed capacity. I was assigned in the Surgical Ward for a few months before we had a rotation and was transferred to a paying class ward that caters different cases ranging from pediatrics to medical/surgical. A year after, an opportunity abroad came and I was hired as an Enrolled Nurse in Singapore. I must say, I grew professionally during my time there—had a lot of learnings and of course, career advancement. I worked there for almost 10 years—more than a month short from having that loyalty award. I resigned as a Senior Enrolled Nurse and went home to the Philippines with the hopes of building a family. That was during the COVID-19 pandemic era. I applied for the position of Public Health Nurse in the City Health Office and fortunately, I was hired. This was the start of my nursing career in the community. Few months later, I was employed in the Department of Health as a Nurse Vaccinator and was then promoted to Nurse Deployment Program. And then, our prayers were answered and He blessed us with a bouncing baby boy. A few months after I gave birth, I was employed again in the City Health Office as a Barangay Nurse.
