After a considerable experience in teaching language and creative writing in an international school, I delved into article writing in the web. It was kind of a dive primarily because it's very different from writing academic papers and creative works. But I found it to be really helpful in terms of acquiring an objective voice in writing. Believe me when I tell you that research papers are far from objective; they may have that quality in tone, but it is only an umbrella they arm themselves with to protect them from a downpour of criticism. But I digress. Let's get back on track. Several how-to articles, an editing stint and a bad relationship with a frigid woman later, I landed a job as a college instructor. This had taken my attention away from web article writing. Nevertheless, I kept my book open for writing at least one to two articles a day while teaching Sociology and Language to students who were more enamored with selfies and 9gag than the dire political situation of the Philippines.
At present I am just undertaking my remaining assignments in an in-design studio as a copywriter while writing two comic books on the side. I aim at going back to web article writing again. This month is just a long swan song in copywriting that nobody had asked me to sing. Now, I have plenty of time to accept writing, editing and translating projects, preferably from Filipino to English and vice versa.
