As a Registered Nurse Coder at MedCore, you will be responsible for accurately assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records according to established coding guidelines and standards. The ideal candidate will possess both nursing expertise and proficiency in medical coding.

Responsibilities

Review patient medical records to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, and HCPCS Level II codes.
Ensure coding compliance with all applicable coding guidelines, regulations, and standards, including CMS and AMA guidelines.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate code assignment.
Stay current with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry trends.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information.
Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities as needed.
Provide coding expertise and support to other members of the healthcare team.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, coding auditors, and other stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (USRN) license in the United States (any state)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
Proficiency in using encoding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality in coding practices
Willingness to adhere to professional and ethical standards of coding practice
Hybrid IP and OP coder is be a bonus
