Personal Tagalog Tutor (part-time)

Tagalog tutor required - 2 hours a day / 5 days a week (Mon-Fri). Additional hours may be available in the future.

Your task is to teach colloquial (not formal) Tagalog to the student and you will have excellent listening skills to correct the student at all times. It is therefore of utmost importance that you should have a stable internet connection and access to a webcam & headset and should be free from all distractions during the direct tutoring hour.

You will be a tutor and accountability partner for the student and provide 1 hour of personal tutoring per day (7pm or 8pm Philippines time) plus 1 hour lesson preparation and personalised additional study such as creating listening materials which can be done anytime before the lesson starts.

You will also need to create and share basic files online with the student via Google Drive such as presentations and MP3 audio files.

The student already knows some basic vocabulary & grammar and can construct simple sentences and you will build on this so that the student will be able to converse in basic Tagalog on certain topics such as shopping, travel, eating out, making small talk, etc.

Preference will be given to the following:
1) Qualifications and/or experience online tutoring of language students.
2) 'Apply Points' WILL be taken into consideration when you apply for this work.
3) Ability to speak slowly and clearly in Tagalog.
4) Excellent listening skills to ensure the student pronounces words correctly and any incorrect words or grammar are picked up and not missed.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to take part in Skype test and/or provide some sample lesson plan/materials/MP3. The special word is 'karneng baka'. If you already have other work, please ensure its timing does not conflict with the personal tutoring contact time.
