JOB OVERVIEW

We are a well-established law firm in Surrey looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team starting immediately. The position is part-time with wages based on experience and qualification.

Duties will include drafting and preparing legal correspondence and documents; court filing and scheduling; administrative tasks including reception and file maintenance; and generally assisting other staff and lawyers as required.

The ideal candidate is a motivated, mature individual who has:

o strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat;

o fluent English communication skills, both oral and written;

o excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

o the ability to multi-task and prioritize work with minimal supervision;

o strong client service skills; and

o a personality that takes initiative, is conscientious with following-up, and is a team player.

Prior experience is not required but preferred. An ability to speak and/or understand Punjabi is an asset, but not required. The key is a willingness to learn and an interest in developing a career in the legal industry – everything else, we can provide. This position is suitable for someone new to law or with a bit more knowledge who wants on-the-job training and experience with opportunities to grow, take on more challenging tasks with guidance, and move up within the company to bigger, better roles.
