Fundraising Research and Operations Associate

Research
Conduct comprehensive research on individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other potential sources of funding.
Identify and evaluate prospective major donors and philanthropic foundations, including their giving history, interests, and capacity to contribute.
Compile detailed profiles and prospect lists to support fundraising campaigns, cultivation strategies, and solicitation efforts.
Create detailed profiles or profiles summaries for prospective donors, including key information such as their background, philanthropic interests, connections to the organization or its mission, and any previous giving patterns.
Utilize databases, online resources, and other sources to gather information about potential donors, including their giving history, areas of interest, capacity to give, and contact information.
Operations and Administrative Support
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor and prospect information in the organization's CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system or database.
Track fundraising activities, including prospecting efforts, donor interactions, and fundraising outcomes.

Exercise 1: Donor Research

Imagine it is your first week in the role and you have been given a list of organisations and individuals that could potentially fund AFWAG. You have been tasked to look into these prospects and make recommendations regarding which we should approach for a meeting.

Put together preliminary research on the prospects listed above and based on your research make recommendations on whether to pursue.
Outline your decision making process. Include criteria such as alignment with our strategic goals, potential for long-term partnership, and the donor's interest in gender equality and empowerment.


Exercise 2: Fundraising Tracking System

Last week, AFWAG's CEO, participated in a three-day conference in London. During her time there, she engaged with numerous individuals representing diverse organizations, including corporations, foundations, and potential network members. She collected seven business cards and spoke with a total of 15 individuals. She has since provided follow-up notes from each interaction.

Design a template for a fundraising tracker to ensure we are capturing all of our fundraising efforts and aligning on next steps. Feel free to create the template and link it to your final submission. Ensure the recruitment team has access to any linked materials.
Outline how you would leverage this tracker to help support the broader fundraising team (CEO, Chief Strategy and Development Officer, and Fundraising and Development Manager) drive towards progress in our fundraising efforts.
