Job Summary:

As a bookkeeper/ accountant, you will maintain accurate financial records while forging strong relationships with vendors and customers to facilitate seamless operations of accounts payable and accounts receivables.

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:

Manage and record incoming invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approval, and adherence to German accounting principles.
Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and professionally address vendor inquiries, maintaining compliant records.
Facilitate timely vendor payments, aligning with payment terms and company policies while upholding German accounting standards.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable in Datev.

Financial Reporting and Internal Controls:

Assist in preparing financial reports, including accounts payable and accounts receivable reports, while adhering to German accounting principles.
Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining internal controls.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures in compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
Identify and recommend improvements in purchasing and pricing functions and enforce compliance with internal control policies.
Contribute to preparing various monthly reports to analyse the company's financial health, encompassing sales reports, profit and loss statements, and general ledger entries.

Compliance and Auditing:

Ensure adherence to company policies, German accounting principles, and relevant regulations.
Assist in internal and external audits related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, and payments, ensuring compliance with German accounting standards.
Stay updated on financial compliance structures and regulations as the company expands, addressing potential compliance issues proactively.

Process Improvement and Efficiency:

Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment processing, focusing on efficiency.
Propose and implement measures to streamline financial operations and enhance internal controls while maintaining German accounting standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise and streamline internal control processes for maximum efficiency.
Skills and Abilities:

German Language Proficiency (Nice to Have): Familiarity with the German language is beneficial but optional.
Knowledge of German Accounting Principles (Nice to Have): Understanding of German accounting principles is advantageous, though optional.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail when handling financial records and ensuring compliance.
Knowledge of Datev (Bonus): Familiarity with Datev is a valuable asset but not mandatory.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing financial data and reports.
Adaptability: Adapting to changing roles, responsibilities, and accounting standards.
Problem-Solving: Skill in identifying and resolving financial issues and discrepancies.
Communication Skills: Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters and compliance.
Time Management: Efficient time management to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Interpersonal Skills: Collaborating and building relationships with colleagues and financial partners.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably with exposure to accounts payables and accounts receivables.
Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
CPA Degreee
