Job Title: Accountant - Data Science Expert (PO and Reconciliation)

Job Summary:
Seeking a detail-oriented Accountant with expertise in Canadian accounting practices and advanced data science skills. Key role in optimizing Purchase Order (PO) processes, managing accounting coding, and conducting reconciliations. A strategic mindset, data manipulation capabilities, and commitment to accuracy are required.

Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting:

Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards in daily transactions.
Prepare comprehensive financial statements (income, balance sheets, cash flow).

Data Analysis and Manipulation:

Use advanced data science techniques to analyze large datasets.
Implement data-driven models to optimize financial processes, focusing on PO workflows.

Purchase Order Process and Accounting Coding:

Lead PO process implementation and management.
Develop and maintain efficient accounting coding systems.

Reconciliation of Spreadsheets:

Conduct regular reconciliations of financial data.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies through data science automation.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Collaborate on budget development with cross-functional teams.
Analyze variances between actual and budgeted/forecasted figures.

Compliance and Reporting:

Stay updated on Canadian accounting regulations.
Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to regulatory bodies.

Technology Integration:

Leverage advanced data science tools for financial reporting.
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate financial and data systems.

Strategic Advisory:

Provide strategic insights based on data analysis.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements in finance and accounting.

Qualifications:

Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is preferred.
Proven experience in accounting roles, and a strong understanding of Canadian practices.
Proficient in data science tools and programming languages (Python, R, SQL).
Hands-on experience in implementing and managing PO processes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, and ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
