Patent and Trademark Paralegal

A growing NYC-base intellectual property firm is looking for a patent and trademark paralegal to assist with docketing and filing patent and trademark applications, along with some litigation.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinate with attorneys and staff to meet all due dates.  Manage AppColl scheduled reports to attorney. 
    
File new patent, trademark, and copyright applications. Enter into docketing system. 

Prepare forms for patent, trademark, and copyright applications.  Prepare goods and services descriptions. 
Draft trademark filing summaries for client approval.  Secure client signatures and approvals.

Generate all client communications and communicate with clients concerning new applications, changes in application
status, and upcoming deadlines using firm templates.  Secure client approval where needed.  

Communicate with USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons, foreign associates, and staff about docketing and prosecution
matters.

Perform patent and trademark searches In Google Patents, Espacenet, and TESS.  Order trademark clearance searches. 
Interface with all USPTO systems including, for example, EFS-Web, TEAS, EPAS, ETAS, ESTTA, PTAB E2E, Private PAIR, and Patent Center.  File documents with these systems and update AppColl. 
      
Leverage AppColl automation features to streamline patent and trademark application workflow.  Collaborate with
attorney on semi-automated client reporting, task generation, outside task generation (e.g., using AppColl to generate tasks in attorney’s calendar and task management software).  collaborate with attorney on notification text.

Advise attorney on suggested updates to workflows.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to case particulars or database anomalies.
