Senior WordPress Backend Developer

Changing Digital is a digital agency helping startup and midsize client projects; moving towards enterprise projects in future.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field
Proven work experience as a PHP developer for at least 7 years
Knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery - Vue and/or React is a plus, but can be learned on the job
Experience building WordPress themes, plugins, and willingness to work with the WordPress API
Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
Experience working with PHP frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Symfony)
Experience in relational SQL database use and design
Experience with Git / GitHub (or equivalent version control system)
Experience with developing and consuming RESTful APIs
Knowledge of web standards (e.g. W3C, WCAG 2.1, HTML, CSS)
Experience building themes or plugins for WordPress
Effective verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical subjects


DESIRABLE

Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as React, Node and VueJS
An eye for good UX
E2E & Unit testing
Experience working with CI/CD, deployment and monitoring
Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience
Agile software development


RESPONSIBILITIES

Creating the website architecture
Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration
Generating WordPress themes and plugins
Conducting website performance tests
Troubleshooting content issues
Monitoring the performance of the live website or web app
