WordPress & Shopify Website Developer

We're looking to hire a long-term, permanent website developer skilled in both WordPress and Shopify design & development to build and manage websites for our clients.

This is a flexible part time shift with a minimum of 20 - 30 hours (hours subject to change due to client/agency demand)

Blue Surge Marketing Agency is a digital marketing and website design firm founded in 2017. As a general agency, we work with several different types of U.S. based clients, particularly e-commerce brands and nonprofit organizations. Our services include PPC, social media management, email marketing, SEO, website design, and more. We are headquartered in the USA but most of our team works from the Philippines. We are a growing team of 15.

We are a Black owned/African-American owned agency, and we will train the right candidate on the nuances of understanding Black American culture so they are successful in this role.

Since we are selling in the US market, the successful candidate must have a total command of the English language, and should have a strong understanding of US consumer preferences.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, creative, and result-driven Website Developer to join our growing team. As a Website Developer, you’ll be responsible to build, launch, and maintain our client’s WordPress and Shopify websites. You will be working closely with our entire team including the CEO. We want a skilled WordPress and Shopify developer that can create attractive, user-friendly websites that perfectly meet the design and functionality specifications of the client and complete projects on deadlines. You will be reporting to the Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

WordPress Design & Development

- WordPress Design – Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration, creating the website architecture.
- Conducting website performance tests.
- Troubleshooting content issues.
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality.
- Our client sites are built using a page builder, Elementor + Astra theme.
- WordPress Management – Performing content updates and maintenance for our WordPress clients.
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.

Shopify Design & Development

- Shopify Design – Same as above, but using Shopify ecosystem.
- Deep understanding of ecommerce design elements.
- Strong SEO knowledge.
- Knowledge of Shopify’s theme development and liquid templating.
- Configuring Apps & Plugins – Understanding the best plugins or apps used to extend the functionality of a client website without slowing the site down.

General

- Communicating with Clients – Sharing project updates with client and collecting any necessary information from them to bring site to completion as well as conducting training with the client after Upgrade to see actual infoeting with clients to discuss website design and function
- You will also need to be up to date with the latest website design, UX/UI trends and various digital technologies. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JS is a big plus, but not required.

REQUIREMENTS:

- EXCELLENT ENGLISH SPEAKING & WRITING IS REQUIRED
- Proven work experience as a WordPress developer and Shopify designer
- Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
- Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
- Expert knowledge of Shopify’s admin system
- Knowledge of Shopify’s theme development and liquid templating
- Experience working with 3rd party Shopify apps
- Knowledge of Elementor (or Beaver Builder) + Astra theme on WordPress is a plus
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
- Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, manage through ambiguity, and collaborate closely with remote leadership
- Energetic, curious, and collaborative with a great attitude and go-getter mentality
- Headset with noise-cancelling feature
- Home office with a reliable computer and internet connection
- Reliable backup ISP

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW:

- Hours are tracked via Hubstaff.
- Pay is biweekly every other Sunday via Wise.
- Slack is used for teamwide and client communication.
- Asana is used to for project management.
- All new teaUpgrade to see actual infombers receive paid online training during week 1.
- Our teaUpgrade to see actual infoets on a weekly & monthly basis to review the status of projects and Upgrade to see actual infoetings are mandatory & announced in advance.

We don’t offer the largest salary as a new startup but take pride in knowing we constantly get better every single month. We offer scheduled raises and as our agency grows, we want to just compensate you with the rate you deserve. As such, the rate here is negotiable if you feel you can really offer tremendous value for our clients and take us to that next level!
