JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE COMPANY
HL is a growing software development company in its early stage, working on its 2 first projects - a project planning desktop application (think Microsoft Project, but better) and an iPad game for female gamers. The desktop application is about 25% completed, while the game project is still in the planning stage - but both are expected to be finished in 2014.

The studio was founded by a very serious professional with more than 15 years of software/game development experience. He has worked for some of the world's largest game companies (such as Sony and Electronic Arts) and believes that success is inevitable with enough smart and hard work.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Currently looking for a serious, ambitious, and professional Virtual Assistant who has the potential and interest in growing into the role of a (Remote) Executive Assistant over the long-term.

The job is full-time, permanent, and with great financial up-side for the right candidate if the company becomes successful.

The ideal candidate is a driven female in her 20s to early 30s, with a positive "can-do" attitude. She naturally over-delivers and thrives with new challenges as well as repetitive tasks. Must be a good problem-solver, fast-learner, critical thinker, and proactive professional with attention to detail in everything she does.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Good English skills: Above average both when writing and speaking.
• General positive attitude and outlook on life.
• Stays focused at work. Not easily distracted.
• Task oriented: Interested in getting things done.
• Willing to learn a lot.
• Able to read between the lines and work with minimal direction if required.
• Enjoy new challenges as well as repetitive tasks.
• Responsible and reliable.

Desired Skills - but NOT Required:
• Able to read, write, and speak Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, and/or Korean.
• An interest in video- or iPad-games, cosmetics/make-up, project planning.
• Sales experience.
• Customer support experience.
• Understands how software works and is developed behind the scenes.
• Able to find and spot talent in other people to help out with recruitment.

EXAMPLES OF DAILY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

> Research Online
E.g. producing neat Excel lists of other companies and organizations who might be interested in using our planning software, along with their (rough) number of employees, and contact information to their buying-decision makers. As well as researching the competition and present what they are doing while understanding why they do or don’t do certain things.

> Write Technical Documentation
E.g. assist with writing the User Guide (User Manual) for our software using WordPress or a Wiki system such as Confluence, including being able to figure out how things work, and best describe it to others, with minimal guidance.

> Make Phone Calls
E.g. via Skype to follow up with clients more efficiently compared to only sending emails. Potentially call clients and competitors to find out useful information. Being able to do telemarketing/cold-call sales would be a HUGE plus, but not a requirement at this stage.

> Deal with Other Companies
E.g. find and contact companies that produce (good but cheap) business cards and other small matters that a start-up company may need.

> Assist with Marketing
E.g. setup and update the company website; write press releases, post job openings, and news updates (on the company blog). WordPress experience a plus, but ability to quickly learn it is the only requirement.

> Assist with Translations
E.g. able to translate words and phrases used in our software, to Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean etc. - either by personal knowledge; personal connections; or Internet search/translation - but most likely a combination of all methods.

> Software Testing and Feedback
E.g. able to personally test the software(s) being developed and provide feedback to help with the development - in particular the iPad game (as it’s for a female audience).

> Coordinate Focus Testing
E.g. coordinate groups (online) of software testers, including finding them in the first place, then providing them with test-versions of our software, and finally survey and gather user feedback in a professional and helpful way for our developers.

> Assist Freelance Employee Recruitment
E.g. scout for more Software Engineers (coders) and/or Software Testers (QA) in the Philippines and present a list of candidates given a job description as guideline.

> Assist with Accounting
E.g. help out with basic accounting tasks, like filing receipts and keeping track of expenses in Excel etc.

> Produce Tutorial Videos
E.g. by using screen-recording software such as Fraps or Camtasia, to record mini-tutorials of how our software works. Able to plan and write the draft of scripts of such videos, and ideally have good-enough oral English skills to record them too.
