Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled and experienced bookkeeper to join our team. As a Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring the accuracy of accounts for our clients. This position requires expertise in bookkeeping, proficiency in financial reporting, and the ability to reconcile accounts effectively. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, experienced in handling balance sheets, and ready to support the organization's client base with accuracy, efficiency and exceptional customer service.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations, and balance sheets.
Proficiency in accounting software, such as Xero, or MYOB, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Sound computer literacy, with a focus on security,
Experience with Practice Management software preferred but not required.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with tea
Exceptional Customer Service values.
Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and regulations, including BAS lodgment requirements.
Professional certification in accounting or bookkeeping (e.g., Certificate IV in Accounting or Bookkeeping) preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions, posting debits and credits, and maintaining general ledgers.
Prepare pay runs and Payroll reconciliations including Superannuation.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure accounts are prepared and ready for review by the Business Activity Statement (BAS) lodgment deadlines.
Assist in preparing and filing BAS returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations and reporting requirements.
Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, following up on outstanding invoices and payments as needed.
Perform monthly and year-end closing procedures, including adjusting journal entries and reconciling accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with the finance team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all documentation is filed appropriately and readily accessible.
Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards, implementing updates as necessary to ensure compliance.
Maintain & Update client Manuals, checklists and process documents.
Ensure client accounts are kept up to date and to clients’ expectations.
Provide support and assistance to the BAS Agent/Director as required. and service excellence.
