JOB OVERVIEW

- Who are we looking for?
We are a creative Japan inspired food company.
We're looking for someone who loves packaging! Someone with a keen eye for design and a knack for noticing details. Someone who lives for great typography and creating custom illustrations.
In a nutshell... a packaging designer.

As a packaging designer you'll be creating the designs that excite our customers.
You'll be designing for the products that are Japan inspired for our brand.
As a Packaging Designer, you'll be partnering with our Product developers to design packaging (labels, boxes, bottles and cans) for our products. In addition, you'll work closely with our nutrition team to ensure the regulatory aspects oof labeling are met.


- The Graphic Designer is responsible for:

Design 2 & 3 dimensional packaging (labels, tags, boxes and bags) to showcase our products.
Incorporate hand-drawn artwork, clip-art, photography and type to develop packaging that correctly positions products within their category and resonates with our customers.
Develop designs for our regional reusable bags.
Assist stores (from time to time) with marketing requests.
Develop graphics for internal meetings and events.
Promoting the Trader Joe's company culture by encouraging open communication, teamwork with fellow Crew Members, food, fun and Hawaiian shirts!


- The ideal candidate has:

A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design (or equivalent experience)
A minimum 2-3 years graphic design experience in a studio setting (preferably in packaging)
Demonstrated strength in creative thought and visual problem solving
Fluency in Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign)
Thorough understanding of print production processes (process color, flexography, etc.)
A positive attitude, strong communication skills and a passion for creating package design solutions that excite our customers!
