THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of Givens LLP Chartered Professional Accountant Team, the right candidate will maximize the business's opportunity for fulfillment and growth.

With Givens, our Accounting Assistant will effectively support firm financial administration; accounts payable processing, payroll processing, administrating firm employee benefit accounts, support special projects and provide administrative assistance to the Manager of Administration. A successful Accounting Assistant will have a high level of intellectual curiosity to identify gaps, growth, and other potential firm needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:
• Primary area of focus is firm accounting and administration. This includes but is not limited to: Accounts payable processing, payroll processing, monthly account reconciliations, payroll remittance processing, Administration of firm benefits, T4/WCB filing annually and other accounting requirements
• General support in Human Resources, including but not limited to job advertising administration, contract preparation, contract drafting, and other administrative HR duties
• Supporting our Client Excellence Co-Ordinator’s and general “overflow” administrative duties
• Support Partners and Manager of Administration for any additional required ad hoc duties and special projects

THE INDIVIDUAL

Success in this role calls for a motivated individual with intermediate knowledge in accounting and/or bookkeeping delivering outstanding customer service experience with outstanding time management, organization, and communications skills. Your background includes the ability to self-manage day-to-day activities, including production of taxation, support in administration and fulfillment of accounting processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential)

• Has obtained CPA Designation
• 3+ years’ experience in a customer service and/or administrative role
• 2+ years’ experience in a Junior Accountant and/or bookkeeping role
• Exposure to CaseWare, Profile, Simply Accounting and/or QuickBooks software
• Junior to Intermediate knowledge of accounting and corporate taxation principles and procedures
• Technologically proficient to navigate various platforms and tools
• Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills.
• Detail-oriented individual with superior organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment while building enriching relationships
• Excellent communication and client service skills; including active listening and clear articulation
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Accountable, takes ownership and makes decisions
• Ability to solve problems and alleviate conflicts or escalate tactfully
• Effective under pressure
• Willingness to accept and give constructive feedback for improvement

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable)

• Business Administration Certificate, or related education is an asset
• Executive and/or Project Management experience
