Technical Writer (Remote)

Job Title: Technical Writer - Project Based Contract - Ad hoc work

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The Technical Writer will play a crucial role in creating clear and concise documentation for our products, processes, and procedures. This role requires excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical information into user-friendly documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

-Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and understand technical concepts, products, and processes.
-Write, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, product guides, API documentation, and technical specifications.
-Organize and structure information effectively to ensure clarity, coherence, and ease of understanding for the target audience.
-Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of technical documentation through rigorous review and validation processes.
-Research and stay current with industry trends, developments, and best practices in technical writing and documentation standards.
-Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and quality assurance, to gather feedback and incorporate revisions into documentation.
-Collaborate with graphic designers and multimedia specialists to incorporate visuals, diagrams, and interactive elements into technical documentation as needed.
-Manage documentation repositories and version control systems to ensure accessibility, traceability, and integrity of documentation.
-Develop and maintain templates, style guides, and documentation standards to ensure consistency and adherence to branding guidelines.
-Provide training and support to internal teams and stakeholders on documentation processes, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications:

-Previous experience in technical writing, preferably in a technology-driven industry.
-Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
-Proficiency in technical writing tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems (CMS).
-Familiarity with documentation standards and style guides, such as Microsoft Manual of Style, Chicago Manual of Style, or DITA.
-Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of documentation.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
-Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
-Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and documentation authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Atlassian Confluence) is a plus.
-Professional certifications in technical writing (e.g., Certified Professional Technical Communicator) are a plus.
