I've worked as a telemarketer in one of the outbound call centers here in Iloilo, Philippines and what we basically did was to, of course, make calls to households/businesses/companies in the US and generate leads or set appointments for our clients. We were encouraged to be as spontaneous as possible when talking with prospects and not to sound as if we're reading from a script. We also do have client meetings every now and then to discuss with the client some feedback about how the campaign is going or any suggestions for that matter.
As to writing, I used to write and spin some articles for a fellow call center agent who was into content writing during his spare time. Whenever he got too busy he would ask me to write a couple of articles for him which I didn't mind since I have always been interested in non-voice accounts. The articles each contain 400 words and were mostly about health, skin care and exercise.
