I started out as a Flash AS3 and .NET developer creating backoffice system for a real estate company in the US. I quickly rose to super stardom and became one of the elite programmers (as what we like to call it) for the company's outsourcing team here in the Philippines. There were four of us: Ted, the C# protege; Joseph, the ASP.net demigod; Antonio, the T-SQL guru; and me, the Flash pundit. I've worked for this company for 2 years. Within this period, I have outgrown myself to what has been expected of me. I have learned and studied each of my teammate's specialty, and soon became the linchpin of the team.
After two years, I left the company and moved to a gaming company as a Flash game developer. With only a short period of time, I quickly became the senior lead developer of the Flash team. I've been the project lead developer of two major game franchises of the company. I'm currently the project lead developer of a Flash isometric virtual world MMO game.
If you're curious about my role as a lead developer, here's a short list:
1. I make the estimation per application feature.
2. I sometimes do all the project technical documents.
3. I do all the resource allocation per project.
4. I lead the creation of the architectural design per project.
5. I rarely code, but if I code, it is usually the most difficult ones.
6. I don't care if it works; I care how it works. I check my team's code, but not all the time.
7. I supervise the team.
8. I conduct meetings if need be.
9. I assist server deployments and make sure everything works according to the deployment plan checklist.
10. I get feedback from different projects and report to my superiors.
11. I'm in charge of training on-the-job trainees.
12. I'm in charge of evaluating of my team members.
I'm also very meticulous and anal with UI design and implementation. I love automated things like the automation of a server deployment: database creation or updates, Flash binary builds, Java extension builds, web services, unit testing, configuration, and tagging.
As of the moment of this writing, I am currently undergoing training for Unity 3D.
