I have worked for an engineering company as an estimator/quantity surveyor. They were usually mechanical works, meaning, airconditioning and ventilating works, fire protection, and the likes. In line with my job then, I studied the basics with working with computers (it was then early 1990s) so that my work would become more accurate and faster since these involved lots of spreadsheet computation. But I have studied spreadsheets (Lotus123 and Excel) and wordprocessors (WordPerfect and MS Word) by myself. I've found it to be easier since I've studied programming earlier (assembler), the logic is quite the same. I have also studied computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) and I am quite adept at it.
