Language is basically learned from home and social interactions. Parents are the very first language teachers, thus any child speaks what native language he hears from his parents, family members, neighbors and the community as a whole.What takes a Cebuano speaking family raise an English speaking son or daughter? One is formal education and the other is the language culture they adopt from their outside environment. I must mention this because I strongly acknowledge why
my father and mother were both , proficient in the English Language. Going to school can be fun when we understand what the teacher and the books tell,which is generally English. Though Language especially English can be hard for most Filipinos because it is only a second or if not third or fourth language. I feel a little bit lucky cause when my father is at the height of his temper he casually blurts in english to us.Luckier I became because my mother was a grade school teacher and she finds time to read to us fairy tales and narrate stories in english. Going to college pushed me to take English major for it is an easy subject to impart with added mastery. Teaching English is very strategic because we can indulge in teaching the Language through dialogue, drama, poem, essay and narration and even songs, Thank you!
