In 2009-2010, I worked as a research editor for MIMS Specialty Editions, a quick-reference guide for medical practitioners here in the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia. We have several publications dealing with the different fields of medicine, such as Cardiology, Neurology and Psychiatry, Pediatrics, OB-GYN, to name a few. These references contain disease management charts that are continually updated based on current literature. My task, as a research editor, was to update the content of the books, making sure that this is in line with the current practice of medicine. Of course, attention to detail is very important. Our job includes writing, editing and proofreading the overall look of the disease management charts, with emphasis on the accuracy of content. Time management is also a skill that I have that came in handy for this job since we have tight deadlines in publishing our books.
