Software Engineer

I have over 4 years of continuous experience with web programming, spanning my university education and my current professional role. I began in my second year of college learning the fundamentals of frontend development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In my third year, I advanced to backend web development using Microsoft's ASP.NET MVC framework. For my fourth-year Capstone project, I served as the primary developer building a secure membership and voting platform using PHP and Laravel. Today, I work full-time as a Junior Software Engineer where I program daily in the Laravel ecosystem to maintain and optimize large-scale enterprise payroll systems.

I used Laravel and MySQL as the primary developer for my university Capstone project. I built a secure membership and voting platform for the Philippine Nurses Association, which included secure login modules and admin dashboards. Currently, I work as a Junior Software Engineer where our main tech stack is Laravel. In this role, I maintain a large-scale enterprise payroll system. I write backend code, create dynamic frontends using Blade templates, and build new features like employee evaluation tools. I also resolve bugs to improve system uptime and performance.

My understanding of REST APIs started when I built self-made practice projects using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js). Through that hands-on practice, I learned how backend servers share data with frontends using JSON, HTTP methods, and token authentication like JWT. Today, I use REST APIs regularly in my professional work. I understand how to consume, test, and integrate APIs using tools like Postman to connect different systems smoothly.

I use Git daily as my main version control tool to track code changes and manage branches. I am comfortable using standard Git commands to commit code, switch branches, and merge updates safely without losing project history.

I use MySQL daily in my current job to manage data for an enterprise payroll system. I also used it as the main database for my college Capstone project. I am very comfortable writing queries, designing tables, and managing relational data with it.

I learned how to use Microsoft SQL Server during my college days. It gave me a strong foundation in database design, relational structures, and writing SQL queries for academic applications.

I gained strong foundational experience with C# and the Microsoft .NET ecosystem during my college degree. Over three years, I built a variety of academic applications using these tools. In my first year, I learned programming logic by building C# console applications. In my second year, I moved on to mobile application development. By my third year, I focused on web development using ASP.NET MVC. This structured college experience gave me a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, model-view-controller architecture, and database connections.

I use Node.js to practice building scalable server-side applications and to deepen my knowledge of JavaScript. It serves as my runtime environment for coding backend logic and managing packages. Working with Node.js has helped me master asynchronous programming concepts and understand how backend servers handle requests.

I use React.js in my personal practice projects to build dynamic and responsive frontend user interfaces. I often combine it with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS to create clean code and modern components. Through this hands-on practice, I have learned how to manage component states, use hooks, and connect frontend layouts to backend APIs.

I use Express.js as my go-to backend framework for building and testing custom RESTful APIs. Through my self-made projects, I use it to set up server routes, handle HTTP requests, and implement middleware like JWT for secure user sessions. This practice has given me a solid grasp of how backend APIs share data with frontends.

I have hands-on experience using MongoDB as a NoSQL database. I use it to store and manage data whenever I practice building full-stack applications with the MERN stack.

I perform software testing and quality assurance (QA) as part of my daily coding workflow. Whenever I build a new feature or fix a backend bug, I thoroughly test the application myself to make sure everything works perfectly. I manually test the user interface, verify backend data, and check for new bugs before submitting my code for review.

I use GitHub to host my personal practice projects and my college Capstone code online. It serves as my main cloud portfolio where I push my local repositories, share code publicly, and practice collaborating with open-source tools.
