Profile Description

Engr. Chris Mar A. Balbuena is an Agricultural & BioSystems Engineer with a focus on Agricultural Development and Environmental Sustainability. He is currently employed full-time as the Senior Agriculturist at the Local Government Unit of Mina and serves part-time as a Technical Trainer at INA Farmers Learning Site & Agri-Farm Inc.

He began his educational journey at Abat Elementary School and continued his studies at Mina National High School, where he was part of a special Science class. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural & BioSystems Engineering at Central Philippine University in March 2020 and is now pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Engineering at the University of St. La Salle.

In addition to his professional pursuits, he is actively involved as a National Officer of the Philippine Society of Agricultural & BioSystems Engineers - Young Engineers Section and an active member of Society Environmental Engineers of the Philippines. His previous leadership experience includes serving as Editor-in-Chief of Ang Montogawe Publication at Mina National High School and as Associate Editor for Ang Tuburan Publication, the official publication of the College of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences at Central Philippine University.

Engr. Chris Mar A. Balbuena has received several accolades for his contributions and achievements, including a Full Merit Scholarship from CHED, recognition as Outstanding Student OJT by WESVIARC in 2019, and being named Best Performing Employee by the Department of Agriculture - Western Visayas in 2023.

Professionally, he has gained valuable experience through various roles, including as a Technical Staff/Trainer at Iloilo New Agri-Industrial Marketing and General Services Inc., Project Development Officer I at the Department of Agriculture Region VI, and Engineer I at the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division VI. He is also a Qualified Safety Officer 3, a Feasibility Study Preparer, and a resource person and authorized trainer for PhilMech.
