My current employer is the University of the Philippines in Baguio City. My official job title is HARDWARE MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGIST. But as any Philippine government worker can attest to, it can mean that you may also be the systems administrator, network administrator, help desk and computer technician. Sort of a technical clerk. I'm very comfortable working within the Linux environment as we (preferably) use opensource software for all our Local Area Network services. I love IPCop. But I also use several Linux distros and Mac OS X with some of our other servers. We have around 200+ PCs running Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 so I can honestly say I'm also adept at working with Windows and Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I also did some programming for the school. I know a little PHP and JAVA. In fact, I'm currently working on a project, a student registration system, using PHP and am thinking about integrating it with JAVA. Although I'm not very good at it yet but I know i can master them if I put my time and mind into it. I'm good at Microsoft Access and Visual Basic. 5 years ago, I worked on a database system (Student Records System) using Clipper. On my free time, I do a lot of online reading and researching. I used to say that i'm a web crawler, not a web surfer. I'm also an avid Photoshop user as I'm also into digital arts. I teach myself new programming languages using downloaded materials from the web. I also tried my hand at 3dsmax but, although I was getting good at it, I stopped because it took too much of my time off.
