I am a registered Mechanical Engineer but have been working for two mining companies here in the Philippines as a Safety Engineer for almost 10 years now. My scope of work include the following:
1. Under the direction of the Manager, assist in the development of methods for anticipating and predicting hazards. Unsafe acts and root causes of incidents from experience, historical data, incident investigations and other information sources.
2. Review, compile and analyze and interpret data from accidents and lost event reports and other sources regarding injuries, property damage, or public impact to:
3. Identify causes, trends and relationships.
4. Ensure completeness, accuracy and validity of required information.
5. Initiate investigations
6. Conducts or assist in the development of and carries out research studies of existing or potential safety issues.
7. Proposes new safety policies, procedures, codes, and standards which can be used to effectively improve safety performance.
8. Assist in directing and developing audit programs which assess safety performance of the entire organization, processes and operations.
9. Provides for management periodic review of the organizations safety performance,
10. Develop Annual Safety Program and Emergency Response and Preparedness Program to conform to government mandate.
11. Conduct or facilitate safety training for employee development.
12. Comply with all government regulations pertaining to safety.
13. Material Safety Data Sheets Management.
With the amount of experience I obtained and the right technical and Educational background that I possess, I'm very confident that I am very qualified for the job.
Unfortunately though, the last mining company I was working for full-time, have temporarily ceased operation because of financial constraints.
