As a QA/QC checker in the past, first, I mainly relied on client instructions prior to checking a photo for issues. I then proceed to the more detailed checking for things like ensuring the work done by the editor reflects the instructions given, checking the colors for consistency and matching by referring to other images from the same group or property, looking for obvious mistakes made in editing etc. and going back again to the instructions to be fully confident of the output prior to sending the images back to the client. And communicating effectively with the client for an efficient work flow.
