I was a classroom teacher for eight years (English, economics, speech, Computer Aided Instruction). During these eight years, I also trained and coached grade school and high school students in campus journalism, public speaking, and dramatics (theater arts).
I have been writing since high school (in the 80s). However, I only started doing so professionally in 1991. I published a novelette back in the early 90s; a romance novelette for a local publisher (Quezon City-based). I also wrote articles and short stories for Mr. & Ms. Magazine for over four years. I created crossword puzzles for a local opinion paper (Isyu) and wrote for a glossy women's magazine for over three years (Eternal Woman/EW). I write a lot of poetry. Likewise, I do ad copywriting (freelance).
In the company I worked for in 2008, I started as a content writer before becoming an assistant content editor. My previous job was as brand manager, writer, and editor of a website owned by a Cagayan de Oro-based IT company (though it’s no longer operational). I wrote more than 90% of the content of that website. I also do PR writing on the side and am a theater director, playwright, and workshop facilitator. I love musicals and have written an original musical play featuring original songs and music by members of the theater group I founded.
I also proofread for local government agencies and write scripts for variety shows and similar programs/events. I've edited eBooks as well.
My ultimate creative goal is to publish a book of poems and short stories. And to watch plays on Broadway and any Formula 1 race (preferably Singapore or any night or street race).
