Asking about the summary of my skills is like asking how to fit an elephant into a tiny fridge. Yes, I've made a joke for my resume. That may be a first for some of you out there. And that is, in itself, one skill that I have. No matter how intense a certain situation can become I have a natural gift for humor. Some employers think that can be a disadvantage but I beg to disagree. With experience I have learned that adding humor to an article is very effective in reader-retention. A witty sense of humor, a tinge of dry sarcasm or even just simple analogies in articles help stimulate independent thinking from readers. It helps one get people's buy-in because it doesn't seem like the writer is trying too hard. It makes one seem more confident and relaxed.
Another skill that I possess, among many others, is what I call my greatest asset as a writer- my analytical skill. It doesn't matter how articulate one is if he/ she lacks the ability to dig deep into an issue, to probe, to have an in-depth analysis of how things work. Being able to think outside- of- the box is a skill that is absolutely critical for a writer. One should not always look at things at face-value but rather we also need to do research and "peel off each layer of the onion".
As evidenced from the last sentence of the above paragraph, one of my skills is my creativity in expressing my thoughts. I am very skillful in using analogies, idiomatic expressions and intellectual methods of driving to my point, thus I am not only limited to reaching out to a crowd of young adults my age but basically I can be flexible in terms of my choice of words to make readers of all ages relate to my writing.
