Started my corporate journey 6 years ago as a customer support representative for a healthcare insurance company. I handle verbal/written disputes for claim denial or recoupment, uploading clinicals to internal EHR, generating correspondence and corrected EOR, responsible for incoming or outgoing faxes, navigating Availity if necessary, and leaving VMs requesting clinicals for clinical review. After my position as a customer representative, I ventured into another position to broaden my skills, and I was hired as a patient care coordinator for an Optometry clinic for 9 months. I handle incoming calls from patients scheduling an eye appointment and assisting them with their cancellation/rescheduling concerns. In the span of 9 months, I was able to learn the field of an Optometry. I learned the terminologies they use and how the process is for this kind of field.
With all of my experiences and skills over the past years, I am confident to say that I can work independently and I love asking questions, especially if I am not sure what is next. This being said, I always make sure that I do not just finish the work for the sake of finishing it. I make sure there are minimal to no errors, documents are ready for the client to view, proactively completing side tasks that I can finish within the day and that's how I make myself efficient.
