I am a graduate from the University of the Philippines with a degree of Bachelor of Arts Major in Psychology, and I am currently taking up Master of Arts in Education Major in Guidance and Counseling.
Since I was in Elementary through Secondary, I always join school press conferences where I compete with different schools and even managed to go to the regionals where I write under the news, features, sports, and editorial category. As one of our schools pride writer, I also am part of our school paper back then where I started as a Literary Editor (because I love poems and proses), then I was promoted to Managing Editor and then to Associate Editor in Chief. These years of my life, for me, has what really honed me to become the writer I am today.
Moreover, when I was in college, I was a feature writer for our college news paper which was the Philippine Collegian--the official newsletter of the University of the Philippines--my love for words was never hindered by tons of school works, on the other hand, studying Psychology has led me to become more of a critical thinker as well as a critical writer. Since I became to understand better the minds and behaviors of individuals, I learned now how to use my words to connect more to my readers.
With my work experiences as a Psychometrician and Guidance Counselor, I gained different insights from life through my clients and students, thus they gave me a wider array of topics to write on. As I believe, a writer is the sum of all his or her experiences, and that the beauty of a literary piece depends on the richness of one's experience, through having a view of life's different facets in the eyes of those people I meet, I became more sensible of a writer, more factual, more realistic.
Furthermore, because of my achievements as a young writer, I now teach in the Special Program of the Arts Curriculum, with Creative Writing as my specialization. With teaching what I know, and what I've learned, I was able to gain more. I share my thoughts and at the same time, I needed to study more and more to produce effective breed of new writers someday.
All in all, my love from writing has been the center of my life. As you have read, in whatever life course I have had, I always found ways to incorporate my first love--Writing. From today, till the end of my life, I will write.
