I've taught English and speech communication to both Filipino and foreign students of all ages for over 7 years--6 of which as a lecturer/instructor in the University of the Philippines, Pampanga .
I have a BA Speech Communication degree (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and I'm currently working on my thesis for an MA in English Studies (major in language) in the same university.
I also have graduate units in creative writing and comparative literature.
I have extensive experience writing and editing written work. My English teaching background has developed in me the ability to spot problem areas in written work and correct them.
I write pretty fast since I don't have to worry about grammar and sentence/paragraph structure.
It helps that writing in English is second nature to me.
I have been writing academic papers for 5 years and have graduate units in creative writing as well, so you can be sure I'm familiar with different writing styles and registers and can write creatively when required.
I was a content manager and module writer for an interactive English Proficiency courseware set for release to all public high schools in the Philippines.
My job as content manager required careful rewriting, editing, and proofreading of all content submitted by writers. As a module writer for over 8 months, I was required to write "fresh" material based on online and book articles-- no easy feat considering that English proficiency is a subject that has been extensively written on.
For this project I
also wrote original content for speech events such as dialogues, radio news, advertorials, short stories, and the like. The quality of my work as a module writer is, in fact, what earned me my promotion to Content Manager. I pride myself on creativity and delight in expressing it, which is why I took several creative writing courses in graduate school. I have also written ads/commercials and scripts as a radio broadcaster for 5 years.
