I am currently managing a small business in the commercial printing sector, family owned, and I have been doing this for 20 years.
I started as an apprentice doing finishing works on printed jobs from office forms to packaging materials.
Basically assembling & gluing boxes together, collating receipts or forms, operating a guillotine paper cutter for cutting raw bulk paper or trimming souvenir programs or paper back books and the like.
I did this for my first seven years until I was able to connect the dots, so to speak, on the process of how a printing job is done from start to finish.
Later I started dabbling with image lay-outing on computers first with Adobe Pagemaker and then to Coreldraw to the present.
I normally just recreate the image, sent to me by our clients via email, in my Coreldraw program and after doing that I present the vector image personally back to them for approval.
I recreate images ranging from basic office forms to graphic images for company profiles, oil lubricant sticker labels or product manuals.
I also do sales marketing that gives me the chance to talk to different people.
I make sure that I communicate with them properly so as to understand their needs in this field.
I believe the proper communication is necessary when dealing with your clients needs and expectations.
