I've been teaching Korean learners for the past 6 years but I've spent more on online teaching than individual, man-to-man classes. I worked right away right after graduation so I was able to gain a lot from my mentors, trainers, and from
my experiences as well. Since I also wanted to venture in another field, I applied as a customer service representative at Teletech Iloilo and later at Transcom Worldwide (Philippines) in Bacolod City. Although I had to work on graveyard shifts I managed to keep myself awake and still deliver.
I've learned several things from call centers. Aside from greatly improving my communication and interpersonal skills, one thing I have a huge use for up to this day is the ability to multitask. Now, I'm back to teaching Koreans online; but since I've been with my recent company for four years already, I am now tasked to make materials for the learners as well as train newly-hired tutors on how to handle group classes online. Another opportunity knocked more than a year ago when I decided to take my masters degree. I was asked to apply as a part-time college instructor for the department of languages, mass communication, and humanities. I've been handling basic English subjects, literature, humanities, speech, writing, and journalism classes to various courses. I'm down to my last semester at graduate school and I expect to finish it by September this year.
