The bulk of my work experience has been spent on Government Service. I have served as the Secretary to the Sanggunian Bayan of the Municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan for four (4) years and seven (7) months until i decided to try my luck on the private sector. Actually, being a department head in a Local Government Unit has a lot of benefits and perks that come with it. The financial compensation was good, I get to practice what i have read and learned at law school, I get to build and nurture my connections, but unfortunately, the political pressure when a change of administration in the Local Government Unit occurs is not worth the effort. The principle of "Security of Tenure" is just another line in a book that is meant to be read and not practiced, a fiction of an imagination, a lofty aspiration created by the top men of our country aimed to provide a flickering light to common citizens. I am a very resilient person, in fact i firmly believe in the line "it is when things seems worst that you must not quit", I do not cower at the presence of a problem or even on a multiple of problems, i relish challenges for they inspire me to work harder, and i accept criticisms as an essential if one would aspire to make a better man out of himself. But the physical risk involved in sustaining a position in government service, even if your appointment specifically states that the nature of your employment is of a "permanent" status, is not a viable factor if you want to live a long and prosperous life. So when the situation started to spin out of control, i gracefully took my exit, bid farewell to the institution that molded me, took a leap of faith to a new employment in the private sector.
The Local Government Unit is understaffed and most of the employees are employed due to political accommodation, it is safe to assume that a majority of the employees are also under skilled. Given the aforementioned situation, i was trained to lead the Sanggunian Bayan, along with a staff of three (3), to craft, enact, as well as adopt, resolutions and local ordinances that i personally believe have provided common benefits to the greater majority, if not all, of our constituents. I am also accustomed to working as a team player, my job entails the responsibility of serving as the conduit between the Legislative department (Sanggunian Bayan) and the Executive department as well as with other National Line Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, Peoples Organizations, and the private sector.
Being the head of my department and given the fact that we are under staffed, i was expected to cover general office administration and maintain the computerized and manual records of the accounting for our operational expenses as well as the payroll system of the entire Sanggunian Bayan. Needless to say i am well versed with MS excel and MS word. I am also proficient at gun safety and is an aspiring gun enthusiast on my free time. I have very good analytical skills and a very short learning curve, give me a task, a manual, a little training, and in a very short span of time i believe a can be very efficient and affective at the task. I also believe that i am a "Jack of all Trades", I may not be good at everything but i am very confident that i know a little about everything.
