In addition to being a registered nurse, I have done some secretarial work on the side and discovered that I am really effective at writing formal business letters and arranging rosters. In my spare time, I read for hours on end on various topics. In addition, I write short stories about everyday experiences which touch deeper human truths, or simply deal with the whimsical. However, they remain unpublished, mainly for my personal delight.
I was a newspaper journalist back home, dabbling in current events and feature articles. Back in the academe, I wrote articles on significant events and people, and did some editorial work on both high school and college publications. In effect, proofreading has become a forte for me. I also did extensive work in reviewing articles about health and well-being. I admit that my line of work streams heavily in the health market; being a nurse, I cannot help it. Thus, in the first year of my employment as staff nurse, the hospital I used to work with tapped me to write feature pieces on its publication, in large part about staff nurses' professional concerns and ideas on workplace improvement.
On the technical side, I am an expert on MS Word and MS Excel. Moreover, I know how to work with MS PowerPoint, Photoshop and Wordpress, but I am far from being an authority on these three. In truth, I can say that I have exceptional typing skills. With minimal supervision, I can work with any given task and can easily figure things out on my own. Being a fast learner is one of my strongest suits as well as being flexible with work hours and having first-rate interpersonal skills. My goal at this point is to find a steady, long-term job which would be beneficial to both my employer and me.
