I currently work as a Content Editor at Straive, where I manage and process client-provided manuscripts and content files according to specific formatting and structural guidelines. My responsibilities include acknowledging client emails, editing content, and performing data updates such as inserting, deleting, or modifying entries in XML files, which are stored in a database.
The updated XML files are converted into PDF documents, which I review for correct formatting and proofread to ensure accuracy before submission to clients. Each file follows a defined workflow, and I use Excel to track progress and maintain clear status records for every project.
In 2020, I completed a Python bootcamp offered by the company, which sparked my interest in automation and scripting. Since then, I’ve been actively exploring Python programming in my spare time—both at work and at home. While handling XML content, I encountered client scripts using the BeautifulSoup library. This inspired me to dive deeper, enhance the code, and create my own scripts to extract heading tags efficiently from XML files.
Additionally, I use Selenium in personal projects to automate web data extraction. One key project includes building a trading simulation app in Python, where I scrape market data and apply trading strategies in a simulated environment. These hands-on projects continue to enhance my technical skills and passion for automation and data-driven development.
I prefer starting in a part-time role, especially for new opportunities, to gain familiarity with the work environment and expectations. However, I am open to transitioning into a full-time position if the role involves multiple responsibilities or evolving tasks that require greater time and commitment.
