I started out as a graphic designer for a local printing press here in Manila, Philippines. I am very knowledgeable in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat and has intermediate skills with Pagemaker and CorelDraw. I can do image manipulation with Photoshop, simple vector arts with Illustrator, and layout and design a full magazine using InDesign. The project that I enjoyed the most being a graphic designer is designing a 600+ paged college yearbook. It was challenging, yet very rewarding when it was printed.
With my knowledge and skills as a designer, I was hired as a Prepress Specialist in a BPO company, wherein the primary task, is to quality-check every files/artworks that their clients submit for printing. During this period, I was trained to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. My skills as a graphic designer were developed to be a print quality controller. Being a prepress specialist allowed me to have a deeper understanding of how the offset printing process goes.
I also had the opportunity to lead a team of prepress specialists where I grew to be a leader. As a prepress team lead, I was trained to coach and develop individuals. During my time as a Prepress Team Lead, I made it a point that everyone gets the attention that they need when they need help. I also conduct trainings within the team where I get everyone involved. I do not get intimidated if one of team members is knowledgeable than me, instead, I acknowledge them and encourage them to share their knowledge to the team so everyone would benefit from it, including the company.
Not very long, I then got internally hired as an Operations Research Analyst, researching and analyzing the company's internal management system. Here, I was trained to find web-based system bugs and glitches; write documentations about bugs and fixes; develop and design new web-based system features; improve system functions; understand database-driven websites and a lot more. Basically, I was part of the team that also acts as a liaison officer for the IT team. Every project that is requested by other Department heads, we develop them by conducting interviews and creating a Product Requirements Document (PRD). Once a PRD is approved, we then take part in testing and QA to ensure that we are delivering the expected results to the Department heads.
As part of that team, I was able to develop a PLAN-DESIGN-DEVELOP-TEST-DOCUMENT-DELIVER-TRAIN approach during projects. I take charge of every project that was assigned to me until they are delivered to the Department heads.
