I had the opportunity of working with two of the most prestigious companies in the country after graduation. It was a fruitful experience; I learned the reality of the corporate world and the ins and outs of marketing management.
I learned how to deal with foreigners when I was working with IBM since I had American, Spanish, and Portuguese counterparts. It taught me how to understand different cultures and appreciate a variety of ideas. I developed a strong interpersonal and communication skills throughout my stay in IBM. I became a good problem solver and managed to think analytically.
Megaworld Corporation on the other hand honed my research skills. I handled market researches, competitors analysis, surveys, annual budget report, etc. I collect, analyze and report on the gathered data. I create
and maintain accurate and timely records of survey results and publish the research findings as well. Also, one of my functions is to evaluate and interpret the data collected from the survey before reporting it to the Executive board. I am responsible in preparing progress reports and presentations. Also, I am responsible in closing a P20 Million peso sponsorship deal with several top companies in a span of 6 months. I managed to close the sponsorship deal between Megaworld and Visa, as well as Mastercard.
Last, but not the least, I had the chance to train more than 20 college interns. I was the person who was tasked to screen and interview the applicants, and hire them. I took care of their duties and responsibilities, attendance, work ethic, and most especially, guided them on the processes in Marketing and Business Development.
My job in Megaworld taught me how to be patient, understanding, and value my job more than money. I always tell my interns that money isn't the only determining factor of success, but growth. For as long as your company or employer provides you career growth, you will always go far.
