I had finished my bachelor's degree in nursing at Silliman University, Philippines, in the year 2009 and a year later obtained my license to become a registered nurse. Furthermore, I worked as nurse trainee and volunteer at a tertiary hospital (Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital) specifically in the medical ward and intensive care unit for a year. This job enabled me to develop my skills, knowledge, and attitude to care for patients especially catering to medically challenged patients in the ward. In addition, I had worked as a copyeditor and then promoted as a quality analyst copyeditor for two years at SPi Global, Philippines. Inclusive dates of my employment at the company are from June 2011 to June 2013. As a copyeditor, I edit chapters of the books of certain authors which vary from standard, technical, and medical books. This was of advantage to me be able to mold my copyediting and proofreading skills since most of the books and MRWs that I was editing was a medical one. As a reference for our edits using the track changes and SPice toolkit, we used the Chicago Manual of Style as well as the Springer manual, which is our main manual. Checking the manuscript of the authors was a vital part of my job. The basic edits that we are ought to do is checking the content of the sentences in terms of grammar, punctuation and style and specifications that the clients/author wanted. On the other hand, if we are confused with a certain context of the author, we are allowed to simplify it and asked for permission of the author if the edit was okay. Due to my patience and perseverance in the field, I was then promoted as a quality analyst copyeditor. This work entailed me to check my colleague's work after they had edited the assigned chapters of the book. Furthermore, I also made a score/rating for the work that my colleagues did.
I had understood what is needed for this job and I can assure that I am fit for this since I am a dedicated, organized and sincere person.
