I think that skills are developed through experience and through education. During these past six years I have learned a variety of skills that I think can be useful in many different types of jobs. When I was working in sales, we were required to go to companies in different parts of Manila, Cavite and Laguna. Before we go, we have to make phone calls to the companies we have to visit and talk to the purchasers and managers. Once communication is established, we will then go to the company and sell our product which by the way is Exxon Mobile Lubricants. Because of this job, I have developed my people skills and it also help me become more knowledgeable in Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel because we need to use these tools in making presentations to clients. After sales, I have decided to enter the call center industry. I found my work there challenging and fun at the same time. This job helped me become more competent in computers and it further enhanced my skills in communicating with people both in English and in Filipino languages. It also taught me to be patient with people because most of the time, the people who call customer service have problems with their products or their service. It helped me become more familiar with the technical aspects of computers and mobile phones because the call center I used to work for was in Telus, a Canadian based telephone company that also provides internet service. After the call center industry, I decided to put my skills in education. I tutored fro two years to elementary and high school pupils. I taught them a variety of subjects like Math, English and Science. I also taught summer classes in Speech and in Writing. During the time that I was teaching children, I learned to become more competent in speaking the English language and in writing. All in all I think my skills will fit professions such as Customer Service, Technical Support, Sales, Education or a secretarial position. I still think though that I still have room for improvement.
