As a brief introduction, I have been developing Java applications for
6 years mainly using Spring and Maven.
I have been part of designing and developing backend applications for a telco company that handles SMS and voice transactions. We used Spring to wire our application. Since it handles high volume transactions, we rely mainly on threads to support them. We used reactor and factory design pattern for scalabilty of the application. These applications also connect to other applications via sockets which uses custom protocols.
Right now, I am doing application development and maintenance for a lodging and hotel web application using struts 1.
My other experiences with online jobs was I was involved in jasper reports, mainly generating excel spreadsheets and pdf via Spring restful web service. I use iReport for reports that requires fix columns and format and DynamicJasper for the dynamic ones. We use MySQL as our database to store and retrieve our data. We use tdd here as our methodology. We used junit and the spring tests helper classes to create test scenarios for each requirements. The number of unit tests are quite extensive.
In this project, I was also involved in getting data from salesforce.com using their api.
I am also now doing some hobby coding applications in the cloud using RedHat Openshift. Mainly for backend services for android.
Right now I am learning to code andorid applications and restlet framework for restful web services.
I use ubuntu (11.10) as my main OS. Eclipse and Maven as my main tools.
