DUTIES:
1. Reviews product designs, drawings, specification, bills-of-materials, and other such documents created by the design department to insure productibility, cost quality and scheduling optimization, completeness, and overall acceptability for manufacture.
2. Provide feedback regarding problems encountered during manufacture with an emphasis on prevention in the future.
3. Meets with vendors and customers to solve manufacturing problems through innovation and problem solving and provides potential manufacturing engineering insights into theoretical design concepts, calculations, and determinations.
4. Responds to inquiries regarding potential manufacturing problems, inconsistencies, and incompleteness prior to the commencement of manufacturing operations.
5. Transmits Bills-of-Materials (generated by design engineering) for material availability determination and purchase if necessary. Responds to questions regarding the contents of BOMs, and resolves issues and problems accordingly.
6. Serves as a member of the estimating team by providing inputs regarding fabrication, machining, and assembly direct labor hours, type, and quantities of materials as listed on the BOM.
7. Provide any input that may be required by finance to perform standard accounting and financial functions.
8. Provides information on an exception basis regarding the unsuitability for manufacturing of designs and other outputs generated by the design functions. Recommends solutions or appropriate action items to correct the problem.
9. Notifies the President and Operations Manager of any manufacturing problem encountered during the manufacturing process that is related to design, specifications, materials type/quality, manufacturing equipment, or supplier furnished equipment. Recommends appropriate corrective action.
10. Assists the purchasing agent on questions/problems concerning material types, quality, and quantities.
11. Provides any technical input that may be required when problems are encountered with supplier furnished equipment, components, subassemblies, or other material.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
2. 12 years mechanical experience
3. 8 years working with SolidWorks
4. Must have laptop or computer
5. Willing to work during US Eastern Standard Time
