Urgent Java/Quarkus SOAP API Developer (Immediate Start - 1 Week Coverage)
Overview

I'm looking for an experienced Java backend developer who can start immediately (today or tomorrow) to temporarily cover for one of my developers who will be on leave until next Thursday.

This is not a greenfield project. The API is already 90–95% complete. Your job is to quickly learn the existing codebase, study the API documentation, answer developer questions, troubleshoot issues, and implement small changes as needed.

If you're someone who enjoys jumping into existing enterprise applications and getting productive quickly, I'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities
Learn the existing codebase quickly
Read and understand the API documentation
Support the team while the primary developer is away
Answer API implementation questions
Debug SOAP/XML requests and responses
Make code changes and bug fixes
Deploy/test changes when needed
Communicate progress throughout the day

Wednesday

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Eastern

Thursday through next Thursday

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern

You must be available during these hours.

Requirements
Strong Java experience
Experience with Quarkus
Experience with SOAP services
Comfortable working with XML and WSDLs
Experience using Git
Docker experience
Rancher experience (preferred)
Ability to understand an existing codebase quickly
Good written and spoken English
