Structural/Civil Engineer/Draftsman

We are an Australian engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Structural/Civil Engineer or Draftsperson to assist with residential and small-scale building projects on a project-by-project basis.

This is a fixed-price gig, with payment agreed for each individual project. Successful applicants may be offered ongoing work depending on quality, communication and turnaround time.

Typical work may include:

Reviewing architectural drawings and project information
Preparing structural framing, footing and slab layouts
Timber, steel, masonry and reinforced concrete detailing
Preliminary engineering calculations and member sizing
Residential stormwater drainage plans and calculations (can just be structural for now)
Driveway, levels and basic civil design
Preparing AutoCAD drawings from mark-ups and templates
Updating drawings following engineering review comments
Preparing calculation packages and design documentation

Applicants should have:

Civil or structural engineering qualifications, or strong drafting experience
Proven experience working on Australian residential projects
Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and the NCC
Experience with standards such as AS 2870, AS 1684, AS 3600, AS 4100, AS/NZS 1170 and AS/NZS 3500
Strong AutoCAD skills
Good written English and clear communication
Ability to follow company drafting standards and engineering mark-ups
Reliable turnaround times and attention to detail

Experience with structural analysis software, stormwater design, residential footing systems, retaining walls, slabs, timber framing and steel framing will be highly regarded.

A small paid trial project may be provided before larger projects are assigned.

All engineering work will be reviewed and approved by our Australian engineer before issue. The subcontractor will not be responsible for signing, certifying or declaring designs.
