About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who enjoys building products, solving complex technical challenges, and making a meaningful impact.

Our platform powers hundreds of websites, a custom CMS and CRM, AI-powered tools, search technology, home visualization software, and multiple consumer-facing applications. We're actively evolving our technology stack, modernizing existing systems, and building new products that leverage AI to improve both the customer and internal user experience.

While this role has a strong front-end emphasis, particularly with React and modern JavaScript, we're looking for an engineer who's comfortable contributing across the stack when needed. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves building software, takes ownership of their work, and enjoys solving problems wherever they exist.

This is not a greenfield project. You'll be joining an established engineering team and jumping into a mature platform with a large existing codebase. Success in this role requires the ability to quickly understand existing systems, work within established patterns, and confidently enhance and extend applications while helping us modernize them over time.

This is a long-term, full-time remote contractor position. You'll work directly with leadership and a small team of experienced engineers where your ideas and contributions will have an immediate impact.

What You'll Do:
- Build modern user interfaces using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
- Build new features within our existing software platform
- Quickly learn and become productive within a large, established codebase
- Design and implement new product features from concept through deployment
- Develop reusable components and maintain scalable front-end architecture
- Work with PHP and Symfony to support backend development when needed
- Integrate REST APIs, third-party services, AI models, and automation tools
- Help modernize legacy applications while improving performance, stability, and maintainability
- Debug and resolve issues across front-end and back-end systems
- Optimize application performance, accessibility, and user experience
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision making
- Review code and contribute to engineering best practices
- Collaborate closely with leadership and other engineers to rapidly deliver high-value features

What We're Looking For (Required):
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Expert-level React experience
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills
- Experience building applications with Next.js
- Strong understanding of modern HTML5 and CSS3
- Experience with Tailwind CSS
- Solid PHP development experience
- Experience with Symfony or a similar MVC framework
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Experience with Git and modern development workflows
- Experience understanding, debugging, and extending large existing codebases
- Ability to quickly become productive on an established software platform
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take ownership of projects from design through deployment
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Nice to Have:
- Experience integrating AI/LLMs into production applications
- Experience building AI-assisted workflows and automation tools
- Experience working with custom CMS or CRM platforms
- Experience modernizing legacy systems
- Docker and containerized development
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- AWS or other cloud platforms
